Tips to Combat Erectile Dysfunction (ED)

Men of all ages-select numbers of them over 50-are possibly susceptible to erectile dysfunction. This affects about 18 million men in America alone.

There are ways to combat this issue. This list of tips covers all aspects of your life:

Maintain a healthy and well-balanced diet. You would be surprised at how just watching what you put in your body can improve your situation. A healthy diet actually improves circulation, which helps the blood in your body flow properly, including to your penis and pelvic areas. This is especially important for people who have health problems such as diabetes to remember.

Exercise on a regular basis. This will increase your energy and will help your circulation. This will encourage blood to your penis and pelvis. If you are currently not in an exercise program, start out by running or walking a few square blocks a day or go swimming. Maybe you can have your partner join you on a nice, romantic nature trail, which can actually help set the mood.

Make wise lifestyle choices. For instance, substances such as alcohol, stimulants, sleeping pills, allergy medications, marijuana, or steroids can affect your ability to perform sexually. Street drugs are the worst offenders and could get you in worst trouble besides dealing with ED. Cigarettes are also a major problem and if you can stop smoking you should do so as soon as possible.

Get some more sleep! You would be surprised at how your sexual energy would improve if you got more sleep. If you are so used to saying “yes” to your boss or other people too much you might have to say “no” more often. Your sexual health may depend on it.

If need be, get psychological help. It is said that about 20% of erectile dysfunction cases are psychologically related. This is true whether symptoms such as tension, anxiety, depression, feelings of inadequacy, or sexual abuse are the cause. It is also true whether some of the negative feelings weighing you down are a direct psychological symptom or a secondary symptom resulting from some physical disease.

Learn to communicate better with your mate. Men, just ask most women. Poor communication is a worst offense in their eyes than the actual ED. If you do not share your thoughts and feelings about it with her and instead take out your frustrations on her that can damage her trust in you. As hard as this personal issue is, you need to talk about it with her or a counselor.
